i converted my mother & my bestfriend.
it sounds silly but i kinda wish i didnt convert them for my own selfidh reason. I wish i didnt sometimes because they enterd my world, my fantasy, & my escape from the real world when they started reading the books.they fell inlove with the characters i already new & loved.

I converted my friend. 😀 She’s just about as crazy as me right now. I pretty much bombarded her with stuff about twilight with my other friend and she gave in. We challenged her to read the book in 2 days since she stopped reading since 12 or something. Hahaha. Now my sis is in the midst of eclipse. Although she is not as crazy, but nevetheless, this means that more people are reading.(:

  23. Haha. I dragged my mum and two sisters along to watch Twilight opening weekend. My mum used to be a Harry Potter fan, and seriously was biased against Twilight, so she didn’t even watch the trailer! but i managed to drag her along anyway, and when she came out, she was gushing about how hot rob was and that the chemistry was there and everything! in fact, when i looked over at her during the movie, she was smiling and giggling like a teen girl. 😛 lols. my youngest sis (7 years old) LOVED the movie although she didn’t actually understand. and my other sis (ten years) she didn’t like reading at first, but then i FORCED her to read twilight (like, shoved it RIGHT under her nose) and she started clamouring for new moon, eclipse and breaking dawn… haha. she LOVED the movie too! oh, and when i asked my mum if she preferred twilight or harry potter, she actually said both were good! (she would have said harry potter immediately before watching twilight) 😉

I have not converted anyone but I’m a convert myself. Hahaha…my friend (a teacher) asked me if I were interested in reading Twilight earlier this year. She said that it was a good read and her students were all crazy about it. I was thinking…nah…just a teenager book. But after I watched the movie, I was caught on…I knew I must read the book. There are too many questions left in me after leaving the theater. *sigh* I should have bought all 4 books but due to budget constrain, I bought only first 2. Now, book 3 & 4 are sold out! Arghh!!!!! how long must I wait?

This is what we got in the mail ages ago ie 6thDecember. Sorry Nadia for posting it soo late. But here goes her story:

    “MY STORY:
Hi, I’m Nadia and I’m 16 this year.

I was converted about a year ago. A couple of classmates had read Twilight and were going gaga about it. I thought it was another dramatic romance story and was really cynical about it. Then, I read the first chapter and I was hooked.

Together with a classmate (and good friend) – the same one who converted me, I managed to convert another good friend of mine, and it snowballed from there. I lent Twilight to a classmate of 4 years and she was converted. I even managed to get a guy from my class to read it; he tore one of the pages and was quite antsy about it.

Well, other than people from my own class, I converted my best friend from my Biology class (this reminds me of the scene in Twilight) and she’s currently at Eclipse. We’re trying to set a date to watch the movie.

I also converted my auntie Siti (my grandma’s maid). She is totally crazy about Twilight and read all four books over and over again. She’s psyched about Edward and all. It’s kind of heartwarming, seriously, because you know how Singaporeans are like, “Let’s make a date to watch Twilight!” and she can’t. She’s patiently waiting for the DVD to come out. It’s fun having her so into the book, because we can discuss stuff together and I can show her trailers and stuff on my computer.

Recently, I wrote a lengthy review on Twilight, the book, for my school’s Student Editorial Club’s inaugural issue. I had a lot of fun doing it. In the process, I managed to win over a fellow Editorial member. I lent her Twilight and now, she’s devouring New Moon.

I have no idea how to conclude. The End.

    Nadia.”

I converted my mom because I live and breath for Twilight. She gave in and has started the series. And Robert Pattinson is signed up for Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. No one is sure anbout Breaking Dawn yet. They may not make it because of certain things in the book.

    Hi Toby!

You mean if there is a sequel to Twilight? Yup. Its called New Moon.
The Twilight movie is based on one of the books in The Twilight Saga series which consists of 4 books written by Stephenie Meyer.

Please go to http://www.stepheniemeyer.com to find out more.

You can also find the 4 fabulous book covers on the side bar of our website.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THE BOOKS!!

Actually his name Robert Pattinson… 🙂

He’s 22 years old and has 10 films under his belt.
1)Vanity fair (did not appear in the final version cos his scene was cut but you can see the scene in youtube.com)
    2)Ring of the Nibelungs
3)Harry Potter & The Goblet of fire. ( Cedric Diggory – the other champion of Hogwarths)
    4)The Haunted Airman (TV Movie)
5)The Bad Mother’s Handbook (TV Movie)
6)Harry potter & The Order of The Phoenix
    7)The Summer House
    8)How To Be
    9)Little Ashes
    10)Twilight

    Hope this helps. 🙂

Yay you guys!! Welcome to the Twilight!

And what is it with Twilight… you wanna read the books over and over then when the movie comes out you wanna watch it repeatedly!!

Anyways, my own conversion story – It happened somewhere in early September…. My sister in dubai told us about this vampire book that has everyone talking. She’s the type that likes to read thrillers ie Dan Brown and she hadn’t the chance to read the vampire book yet. So my youngest sis and I googled it and chanced upon the movie. And I recognized the boy as Cedric Digorry and can’t believe Kristen Stewart had grown so much!…. and we thought it’d be interesting to check out the book before the movie comes out. So it was a week later, when my youngest sis asked me when were we getting Twilight and I said “OK lah now!” and we were at Changi Terminal 3 Mall. So we went to the bookstore and bought Twilight. She was in the middle of doing an assignment so she just read one chapter first and when she put it down I read it…

I could not let go of the book!!! The next day we went to this book rental kiosk at the Marine Parade promenade and the guy only had Eclipse & Twilight. So we rented both! And went to Popular and bought New Moon. We somehow preferred the ones published by Little Brown 🙂 Anyways, both of us were reading Twilight at the same time but she was a little faster cos I tend to linger and reread the good parts…We stopped watching TV!! We would be reading on the sofa and there were moments we would look up at each other and say “WOW!!!”.. “Sure or not?”…”Oh my goodness!”… “Oh Wow!!”….” Ahhh soooo nice!!”…”OMG”..the latter..a lot of times..
Hahaha it really went like that! So I had to go to Hong Kong to party with my friends and home to Malaysia I read it on the plane and whenever my friends or my parents left me alone 🙂 Whereas my sister would be texting me at 3am saying that she’s jumping around the room whilst reading New Moon! So from then on my sleeping time went down to 4 hours. Couldn’t wait to wake up to read. I reached brisbane at 7 am and didn’t even open my hotel room window to see the sunlight cos I was so wrapped up in reading New Moon. I only wentout at 8pm to have dinner. Those were the days when food and sleep don’t matter just as long I get to finish and read the book!!
While in sabah I bought Breaking Dawn for Rm54 at Times Bookstore. Luckily the day I arrived they just received a new shipment so I get to choose a nice one.
Then came time to convert the sister in dubai…We talked to her about it and said we were crazy!! And she refused to start reading it cos she doesn’t wanna be like us(!!!) and she had soo much work to do and beeds to go to gym and all. So when when she came over to singapore I went to Kino and bought Twilight as well as a nice book cover for her and slipped it in her luggage. Everytime we spoke to her we’d ask if she read it already and she’d always said NO! Then a good 2 weeks passed and she called to say that she read it and it was SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! And life stopped for her as well and she also couldn’t put it down. She went to get all 3 and that’s it!! 🙂

    JOURNEY WITH TWILIGHT

I watched Twilight for the first time on 23rd December 2008.
The movie was screened in Singapore on the 18th Dec.
My birthday was on the 19th. I asked myself, what do I want to do on my birthday after work.
I intend to watch a movie but no idea if I really want to spend my time in cinemas.
But i told myself that I should treat myself to a movie. I must.

On the 23rd Dec, after work at 5pm. I went home taking bus 190.My intention was to go home but I keep thinking about the Chinese girl who read TWILIGHT in the bus when i was on my way to work.I saw TWILIGHT everywhere, teens and people are reading the books. I watched the trailer in youtube but it didnt look interesting to me though…(LOL). I saw the posters and I was like, ” Who is this guy? He looked weird with the vampire image.” Hahahah…
I totally repelled and dislike Rob Pattinson’s image in the posters ( the first time I saw it)

I took 190 all the way to CCK. I feel that i should watch the movie. Maybe I will like it.
So my first TWILIGHT experience was at CCK Shaw Theatre in CCK theatre One, on the 23.12.83 at 7.20pm, Sit Number F-12, $7.00.
There you go….thats my first Twilight Ticket!

    I was alone,not feeling excited. I reached 20 mins b4 the show.
When I finally sat down n the movie begun, I was still feeling not-excited until Bella’s dialogue came out, “..but dying in the place of someone I love…..” – That’s a catchy line.
Then the song “Full Moon” was played in the first scene, at that moment I feel it is going to be awesome and YES, its weird, I totally love the movie, the whole thing is awesome, the soundtrack, the script, the scenes, the cast…

My favourite scene that totally struck an impact on me was the first scene which Edward Cullen entered the school’s cafeteria. The moment he opened the door and “swwooossshhhh”, i was like,
” Wow! So that is the character, Edward Cullen!! and his eyes, when he stared at bella in the biology class made me so ‘happy’ (dun know why) and the scene which he walked away after talking to Bella at the locker corridor, I love the way Edward Cullen walked.
And the scene which he asked bella,”So, u’re enjoying the rain”. I love the way he asked the qns. I would appreciate it if a guy asked me about how I feel about the rain bcoz I love rain 🙂

After watching the movie, I went out of the cinema with a cheeky smile, secretly feeling ‘love’ for the movie.

    THE FIRST PERSON I CONVERT:
At home, I asked my 18 YR OLD younger bro if he has watched TWILIGHT,he was like,
“huh, Sis, its like superhero movie right?” He watched one-third of TWILIGHT online.
So I told him, maybe, he shuld watch it in the cinema. I said, “lets go watch!”
I successfully ‘tagged’ two of my younger brothers to Cathay for TWILIGHT (digital).
They love it. I dun know how but they love it! Almin like the character, Jacob Black and Din love the character EMMETTE.

At home, the hottest topic among us was all about TWILIGHT. We have the soundtrack and listens to it everyday & the soundtrack scores rocks! We also watched ‘Twilight before Christmas’ in YOUTUBE, it was funny crazy!

    You should watched :

We went to watched TWILIGHT again for the 2nd time and laughed everytime the forest scene appeared (when Bella said she knows what edward was).

Yesterday was the 6th time, we watched in the cinema.
We are going to watch it again this week before Thursday, for the 7th time.

I cant believe myself either, now that I’m having the first 2 books of stephanie meyer and still trying to look for another two other books.
I’m still reading TWILIGHT until PAGE 69…hahahaha (since One week ago), I have been very busy with work since two weeks ago that I cant manage to progress further with the book. Hopefully, I can finish reading it and proceed to New Moon.

Din was always with youtube for twilight interviews and clips (LOL)
, logging to websites and fanpage of TWILIGHTERS. (LOL)
Mum was curious about Twilight. Becoz she kept hearing we were always talking about the Nomads and how they walked and funny scenes in twilight, about the history of the cullen family and stuff like that.

and yeah…I am a TWILIGHT convert –converted two of my bros.
Recently, I have also indirectly converted my another bro (LOL)…
I converted all 3 of my brothers. …heheheheheh…..

I saw this website and felt glad that Twilight has a ‘home’ in Singapore!

    ____________________________________________________________________________________
My fav. Lines in the movie:
“This is the way its suppose to be” (edward cullen in the prom scene with bella)

“I’ll take good care of her, I promise” ( Edward official intro scene to Charlie Swan)

“I’m not going to end your life for you” (prom scene)
“Are you ready right now? It’s not enough to have a long & happy life with me” (prom scene)

“Oh, you do smell good” (by Alice- home meeting with the cullens)
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________

    Fav, scenes:

    Edward’s first entrance
    Baseball scene
    the prom kiss
meadow scene when edward ‘cornered’ Bella near to a large stone.
    the dance in edward’s room
Jasper’s stare during the family visit
    Biology class

AWWWWWW !! Thanks Oreo!! WOW!! Confirm you are a Twilighter!!! HAHA

Continue reading the books and you will be UTTERLY AMAZED!! Look forward to not eating and not sleeping days….hahahaha!!At times when I am at work and somehow when a line from the book crosses my mind – I’d go to one hidden corner (usually the toilet) and do the Happy Dance cos Twilight does that to you. It somehow makes me happy!

So you can qualify for our Ticket Stubs Contest with your 7 ticket stubs!!! AWESOME!! Just keep your stubs safe and head on to the page and answer the questions first lah. And stand to win our SURPRISE PRIZE _ you gonna love it!!

    ….I’m a twilighter? …(grin grin)

Thank you so much 🙂 I shall give it a try 🙂
Awesome! My bro’s are excited as well, they encouraged me to go for it ..
I shall collect all my ticket stubs I have until the day I watch the last twilight screening in Singapore.

PS: I love the scene in the book whereby Bella felt unwell in Bio’s class becoz she has to prick her finger for blood typing. Edward carried her to the nurse room and drive her home himself. She mentioned that “blood smells like rust and salt”.

Not forgetting…(Pg 85, On the 6th Line of the page)–

“You scared me for a minute there…… I thought Newton was dragging your dead body off to bury it in the woods.” – Edward’s dialogue to Bella

(Giggle)–I am very amused with Edward’s sarcastic remarks about Mike Newton’s strength.
hehe..we all know how strong Edward is. Just before that, Edward knew the next class was going to be blood typing, dats why he ditched (skipped) the class (for ‘safety reasons’..)
    ..Clever guy 🙂

I am at Page 141 (Twilight) today,9.10pm, 9th Jan 2008 ..in my room..with ice milo and Twilight …(LOL)..Haven’t take my dinner yet…ahhahah (LOLs)

Thank you so much for the absolutely awesome updates which were put up in the website.
    Thats awesome! Thats awesome!

Almin was so happy that his fav character (taylor lautner) is ‘staying’ for NEW MOON !
He was so worried if Michael Cupon will replace Taylor. He even said Taylor has set of teeth which look like werewolf to him (LOLS LOLS)..
He told me to convey his ‘Thank you’ to you and the rest of twilight Committee for putting up the Jacob Black update. Din loves Emmette’s new photo! (grin)

We all are greatful for the updates 🙂

I read Twilight back in May 2008 and I was the first person in my grade to read it. I told one of my friends how amazing it was and everybody thought I was crazy for obsessing over it. Then, the friend who I was talking about it to got it the next week. Then, my other friend bought it at the book fair the next week because I wouldn’t shutup about it. I didn’t really mind just them reading it, but starting in September everybody started reading it too just because of the movie =(
It bugs me now because now everybody is all like “OMG! Edward Cullen!!!!” and yet 8 months ago everyone was calling me a freak and ’emo’ for reading them but now its ‘cool’ to read them =\

You tell her the story lah! My mother doesn’t wanna read the book cos she gets dizzy easily..so me and my sisters brought her to watch Twilight…She loved it!! She watched it twice! As for me and my sisters have all a combined total of 27 times watching Twilight! Hee

If you search through the net you can find many stories of families bonding through reading Twilight…sister shares with brother..brother tells mother and mother also reads the books.. Its soo cool that Stephenie wrote this book that made people who don’t usually read, read.

    Books are awesome!!!

Does being converted to hating Twilight count? ‘Cos initially, I loved Twilight. I read it two years ago, before it became this popular. Then when the movie came out… I would see Twilight posters everywhere, read about it everywhere and hear about it everywhere. I got really annoyed. I was re-reading Twilight at that point and I discovered a website for anti-Twilighters. I read their arguments and the arguements do make sense. I realise that Twilight is not that good book as everybody is making it out to be. Truly, it’s not. It doesn’t deserve all the hype it got. So yes, I pretty much detest Twilight now.

    WhoA Ashleigh!! 😀

Its awesome that you insisted your SIL to read the book first b4 watching the movies. So does your mom let you borrow her books?

I was talking about this to my friends late last year and even asked them to buy the books first b4 December came. One bought and one didn’t. The one that bought got to page 86 then stopped.
Earlier this month I asked her to watch the film with me – SHE LOVED IT! The she told me she’s gonna bring her hubby to watch it again.
The one who didn’t buy, texted me last week saying she saw the movie and she loved it too ( I think she liked Edward..hahaha) and now she wants to read the books! I am meeting her in an hour to pass her my Kinokuniya card for her to buy the book!!

    🙂

These converts stories are interesting… Doesn’t matter whether ownself was converted, families, friends or even strangers…

    I also converted myself… Very long story…
I first read about twilight the movie from “FIRST”magazine. I’m not sure which edition but that way before the movie started.. I read the review of the COMING SOON movies.. When I read “Twilight”, I knew I’m gonna watch this movie because it’s a lovestory between a couple from different worlds.. I love that fantasy.. hahaha.. always imagining myself falling in love with a handsome and romantic ghost.. *YA I know what you peepz are thinking — this girl is FREAK* Anyway back to my convert story… SO I waited for the “TWILIGHT”to open in the cinemas.

When it the movie was in cinemas already, I told myself I”m going SOON>… but i never ever went until now… I was so busy with work and can’t bring my young daughter to watch that kind of movie.. so I gave up the idea of watching altogether and decide to put TWILIGHT behind me..

But then I saw the book at POPULAR bookstore and saw the rest of the “SAGA”… Then my boyfriend told me tat her sister had already bought the book and finished reading… Her comment was very encouraging.. SO I borrowed the book from her. But that was not the start of my craze ….

I never touch the book for a month, I just left the book at my bedside table for 1 whole month. WHY?? Because my reading mood for reading such a thick book does not exist yet.. I still prefer to play PSP or read the newpaper otw to work (journey to work is almost 1 hr, to and fro is 2 hrs… hahaha).

Then one day, I finished the 2 seasons for FM2009 on PSP, and already grew tired of the game.. So I decided, why not start to read the book… This decision was 1 week ago…
That’s when I was addicted, my boyfriend call me a fanatic because I’ve been talking about the book and I couldn’t wait to finish my work so that I can continue reading the book… My thirst for the story grew, I borrowed “NEW MOON”, “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn” from her… I am hopelessly devoted to Edward Cullen and his progress with Bella… It took me only 1 week to finish the 4 books compared to the ONE month the first book sits on the table.. My boyfriend finally gave up on talking me out of the craze….

Now I am down to the last 50 pages of “Breaking Dawn”… I am reaching the finishing line…. But I’m still hoping for a sequel cos I don’t want to this to end – my fantasy with Edward Cullen…. Next OBJECTIVE —- to get all the books and OWNED them.. I going to look for the SAGA no matter what it takes…. hahahahaha

*so happy people starting to read Twilight*

if you guys can.. please visit ‘OUR HAPPY PLACE’ its where we discuss about the books. Right now we’re on the first book – Twilight. Every Friday we start a new chapter for discussion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your opinion on the previous chapters. The discussion doesn’t revolve around the given questions only so you’re free to discuss the other subject matters in the book.:) Enjoy!!

Here’s another ‘conversion story’ emailed to us by Jonna Marie Fields

    “Hey,

Everytime I go somewhere I always bring one of the Twilight books with me to read and my friend at church told me that I was way to obsessed and crazy. and I asked her if she read them and she said no and that they were probably really stupid so the day she told me that i went to the store and bought the first Twilight book for her and she read it all in one day. The day after she read it she went and bought the 2nd and 3rd. and finished them in less than one week. I let her borrow the 4th and now all we ever talk about is Twilight! :)”

    Hi Troll

I actually don’t see why you need to post those links on this page. Simply because we’re Twilight fans does not mean that we’re all as weird as the people who recreate Bella’s womb. Just because you nicknamed yourself “Troll”, should I be given the right to say you have the same characteristics as the troll in the Three Billy Goats Gruff?

You can hate on us, but I suggest that you should avoid wasting your time here shoving anti-Twilight comments into our faces on our site because logically, if it is somehow possible for you to make use of your inborn abilities, anyone can see that the staff members and Twilighters here are nowhere near the level of the womb-maker.

Even then, I think that the person who created that model has his/her own reasons for being obsessed enough to do so.

I also wish to express my personal opinion that posting two links was definitely unnecessary. Ohnotheydidnt is a community that lives the lifestyle unlike that of a Singaporean, obviously. So any comments they make are clearly in reference only to the teenage girls in the US because local fans are mos def less wild.

Having been there before, I think ontd mostly cannot be trusted. And I say this not because it’s the first time I’m seeing their comments towards Twilight, but because I was there for quite a long time already, and I know how ontd behaves.

I kindly request that you step out of this place. Unfortunately I must mention that the Internet is too big for you to accidentally stumble here in the future and so avoid this place, we’ll not keep in touch anymore and the world is slightly more peaceful. Thank you.

    Yours sincerely
    Bessy

  65. Twilight Singapore, eh?

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but Twilight isn’t ‘teh most awesomest ting evah!!!!11′.

Being a Singaporean student, I have to say that Twilight and it’s fandom is pretty big in this country – especially in schools. I must say that I don’t particularly like Twilight; rather, I hate it.

Edward is an abusive, controlling, demanding boyfriend and a 108 year-old stalker and vampire – and a paedophiliac rapist to boot.
Bella is an annoying, whiny Mary Sue who’s a blank character just perfect for self-insertion, with no real personality.

The books are covered with multiple plot holes, the writing is atrocious, it’s got a terrible plot (or severe lack of plot), and it’s crawling with one-dimensional Mary Sue characters… It’s a published novel series and franchise that has garnered millions of insane, rabid fans, I have to say, looking at its poor writing and characters, that I am shocked at it’s success.

And I have to ask myself this question: Why do people even like it, and why do they like it so much?

I have come up with a theory of why Twilight has become so popular, so fast.

The people who read and love Twilight are mostly teenage girls or middle-aged women. Twilight is wish-fulfilment at its best to them. I mean, who DOESN’T want an uber-rich, uber-strong, uber fast, uber-smexy, immortal guy for a boyfriend? Edward is supposed to be every girl’s fantasy. They literally insert themselves into Bella’s character when they read the books -Bella, the plain, average-looking girl who just moved to a new town- and they go through what Bella’s character goes through. They see super hot Edward Cullen in their new school -every girl has had a hot guy they’ve crushed on from their own schooldays- and immediately fall in love and therefore ‘relate’.

The fact that Twilight is written from first person narrative (i.e. ‘I did that’, and not ‘Bella did that’) ensures even more that the readers will self-insert themselves into Bella’s shoes.

Now, this is not good. Not only does Twilight promote stalking, paedophilia and abusive relationships, but Bella Swan is being hailed as a ‘good role model’ for women. Bella Swan does NOT = Feminist role model.

Bella is always the ‘damsel in distress’. When do we ever see her fighting for herself or for her rights? It’s always “Edward’s here to protect me!”, or “here comes Jacob and a couple of werewolves – I’m safe now!” She lets Edward make all the decisions in their relationship. Edward even resorts to taking out the engine of her truck and bribing his sister to ‘kidnap’ Bella while he’s away – all so that she can’t go and visit her friend… and guess what? Bella’s okay with that.

    Feminism? Don’t insult me.

Edward also stalks Bella in Book 1, following her as she goes shopping, hiding in bushes watching her, sneaking into her bedroom at night to watch sleep (this goes on for a few months, mind you)… etc. But NO, Bella doesn’t find it creepy that he’s stalking her AT ALL. In fact, she’s touched by it and thinks it’s romantic and sweet.

    Romantic? I think not. *gags*

    In conclusion:
Twilight Series = Insult to Literature and Epic Fail.

I would also like to alert you all to a brilliant Twilight critique website. It’s http://www.twilightsucks.com.

Oh, and please don’t tell me to ‘get off the site’, because ‘I suck for being a Twilight hater’. You asked: Are you a Twilight convert? …I’m saying I’m not – and there’s nothing wrong with that.

P.S. I have a feeling someone blocked/deleted my previous post. So I’m re-posting this. I think it’s rather unfair for you to delete my post just because it’s something that opposes your views of something. I also think it’s rude and hypocritical of you to ask whether people are Twilight ‘converts’, and when someone replies ‘No’, you delete their reply.

My respect for you Twilighters would go up a whole lot more if you have the sense to keep my post on this page.

Thanks a lot for your understanding. 😀

Have you read Midnight Sun? If you answer “No, because [insert reason here]”, fyi when you wish to criticize something, you need to get your facts right. And there are a lot of facts lying blatantly right there in Midnight Sun. If you argue that Midnight Sun was only a book from Edward’s POV and that doesn’t count as factual, then Twilight isn’t factual too, since it was from Bella’s POV.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bella_Swan#Personality_traits_and_abilities

In response to “The books are covered with multiple plot holes, the writing is atrocious, it’s got a terrible plot (or severe lack of plot), and it’s crawling with one-dimensional Mary Sue characters… It’s a published novel series and franchise that has garnered millions of insane, rabid fans, I have to say, looking at its poor writing and characters, that I am shocked at it’s success.”
Here’s when the phrase “the pot calling the kettle black” comes into use. If you are unable to differentiate between the usage of “it’s” and “its”, I see no reason why you are equipped to put down Stephenie’s repeated usage of vocabulary throughout the books, or anything else for that matter.
“one-dimensional Mary Sue characters” is inappropriate to describe the filler characters that have been inserted into the story. Because Mary Sue is a “term used to describe a fictional character who plays a major role in the plot and is particularly characterized by overly idealized… mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as wish-fulfillment fantasies for their authors or readers.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue) Yet, within your context, the only “Mary Sue” I can pinpoint would be Isabella Swan, unless you are able to quote me other worthy examples.

In response to “I mean, who DOESN’T want an uber-rich, uber-strong, uber fast, uber-smexy, immortal guy for a boyfriend?”
I take this as a general insult to society, for this implies that teenage girls of today dream of getting perfect boyfriends even in the financial department. This is not called being realistic, but rather making an assumption. If you do take the time to analyze it properly (and you are already claiming that Twilight is lacking what real literature has [ergo I conclude that you are also saying that Twilight is lacking in depth]) despite it not needing much reading into, anyone would be able to also spot the strengths of Edward Cullen, whereas you are merely highlighting the weaknesses of him.

In response to “Bella Swan is being hailed as a ‘good role model’ for women. Bella Swan does NOT = Feminist role model.”
First of all, “being hailed” is a very ambiguous term and this whole “good role model” thing undeniably does not apply to us here at Twilight Singapore. IMHO, I do not think Bella Swan has done anything courageous enough to be a female role model, but I would like you to further clarify what you mean by “feminism” to begin with. I agree with Stephenie Meyer on her definition: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/bd_faq.html (Ctrl+F “Is Bella an anti-feminist heroine?”)

In response to “Bella is always the ‘damsel in distress’. When do we ever see her fighting for herself or for her rights?”
In Twilight [2007 reprint], Chapter 24, page 413, Bella Swan said, “I can’t always be Lois Lane. I want to be Superman, too.” If you wish to argue that this is probably the only time she has ever tried to fight for herself, I would like to remind you that your statement said, “When do we ever see her fighting for herself or for her rights?” This equates to that I only have to mention one situation to prove you wrong.
Of course I’d like to do more than that and bring to your attention the situation that happened in Eclipse. Having heard the legend of the second wife of the Quileute tribe, Bella attempted to use a similar method to save Edward from battling Victoria which she presumed would make him hurt. The gist of the method was simply self-sacrifice.

In response to “She lets Edward make all the decisions in their relationship.”
    1) Why is it that in relationships, things must be “fair”? As long as it suits the two people involved in the relationship, I see absolutely nothing wrong with having one helm it and the other simply following on.
    2) However, on the point that you made, you are wrong. Bella does not do that, as we could infer from i) her trying to escape from Edward’s “kidnap” attempt and ii) Edward’s repeated tries to let Bella choose whom she truly loves just so she could be happy.

In response to “Twilight Series = Insult to Literature and Epic Fail.”
Overused, much? Also, “Insult to Literature” needs further elaboration, as mentioned before.

In response to “I would also like to alert you all to a brilliant Twilight critique website. It’s http://www.twilightsucks.com.”
I visit it very often, often being defined as “two or more times a week”.

In response to “Oh, and please don’t tell me to ‘get off the site’, because ‘I suck for being a Twilight hater’.”
Hmm, if you were actually inferring this from my previous reply to Troll, I actually wish to bring up that “I kindly request that you step out of this place” does not translate to “get off the site”. Such an inference is of your own personal opinion. Also, once again I’d like to reiterate that we here at Twilight Singapore try our utmost to be polite.
I hang out with many friends that are anti-Twilight and we often debate over the series’ flaws and I can thus confidently conclude that I am knowledgeable in the department of why people get disgusted at the books. (I must add that this applies only to mature and in-depth criticism.)
Ergo I will not hate you just because you are against the books. It takes much more than being against what this site exists for to make me tick.

In response to “You asked: Are you a Twilight convert? …I’m saying I’m not – and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rhetoric

In response to “P.S. I have a feeling someone blocked/deleted my previous post. So I’m re-posting this. I think it’s rather unfair for you to delete my post just because it’s something that opposes your views of something. I also think it’s rude and hypocritical of you to ask whether people are Twilight ‘converts’, and when someone replies ‘No’, you delete their reply.”
As you’d mentioned, you had a “feeling”; therefore I don’t think you are qualified to really outright accuse us. After all, technical difficulties crop up everywhere all the time and, as such, anything could have happened that involved neither you nor me and yet led to your comment doing a disappearing act. Of course it’s a hypocritical act but without solid evidence you should learn to refrain from attacking us like that.
Also, this page was not meant for people to answer our rhetorical question with negative connotations; it was a way of naming this section of our site. We’d initially began this as part of a way to try and bond the people together by sharing their convert stories. 🙂
So, taking into consideration our true purposes in having this page set up, I strongly believe that if someone had really erased your comment, it was not wrong.

In response to “My respect for you Twilighters would go up a whole lot more if you have the sense to keep my post on this page.”
    Evidently you’re contradicting yourself.

Thanks a lot for using up money (= time) to read my retort/rebuttal/reply/reasons. 😀

    hi,

i just want to share an incident today…

i was at popular bookshop, queing up to pay for my copy of breaking dawn (before that, i borrowed BD from my sis friend), when suddenly the lady in front of me turned to me and asked, “is that book the last one?”

i was kinda shocked cos i wasnt really paying attention to her so when she asked me the question it took me some time to understand wat she was saying. i thought she was asking me if that was the last copy of BD. then i told her, “oh no, there are still somemore on the shelf over there…” then she said : ” oh no, i mean, is that the last book in the series?”

then i answered her question, : ” yup, thats the last one”.

then she smiled at me and asked me if i was reading the book and i said yes. then she shared that she was also hooked on it and she was buying a copy of eclipse. then she said, ” such simple english and yet so many people want to read it…” then i replied, : ” well, it is becos of the storyline i guess. it has a beautiful story…”

then she smiled and agreed with me….and proceed to ask me if i wanted to borrow her popular card for discount…

    such a nice lady…

i wanna share cos before that, i felt kinda weird that im hooked on the Twilight series and didnt dare to share with any of my friends, lest they laugh at me. now that i see that lady also as hooked as me on the Twilight saga, i feel that there is no need to hide anymore. now im going to embrace my love for the twilight series.

so i just wanna say, today has been a nice day for me…:)

  70. @Bessy:

    Oh, Good Lord. 😀

Finally, a rational response from a sane Twilighter! This is indeed a rare gem. Usually, Twitards (the rabid fans) simply resort to bashing and flaming when anyone voices a negative opinion of the books. Not just that, but they tend to resort to violence and vulgarities when you attempt to express your opinion that the books are not as great as they’re hyped up to be, too.

    Proof of Statement: http://twilightsucks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fangirls&action=display&thread=5175

Note: I’m not prejudiced against ALL Twilight fans. I only dislike the insane ones whom we Antis label ‘Twitards’. The ones capable of rational thought we’re okay with.

I’d like to point you, Bessy, in the direction of the TwilightSucks forums: http://twilightsucks.proboards.com . I’m sure the members would welcome you with open arms. 🙂

In response to “Have you read Midnight Sun? If you answer “No, because [insert reason here]“, fyi when you wish to criticize something, you need to get your facts right. And there are a lot of facts lying blatantly right there in Midnight Sun. If you argue that Midnight Sun was only a book from Edward’s POV and that doesn’t count as factual, then Twilight isn’t factual too, since it was from Bella’s POV.”

Yes, I HAVE read Midnight Sun.
What blatant facts are you referring to? I’m sorry, I’m not aware of them. All I saw was that Edward only took an interest in Bella in the first place was because… she was interesting to him. She was the only human whose thoughts he could not hear, and that, coupled with the fact that she was his ‘singer’, sparked his curiosity in her.

In response to your attempt to disprove that “Edward is an abusive, controlling, demanding boyfriend and a 108 year-old stalker and vampire – and a paedophiliac rapist to boot.”

(Quote from one of arzim’s rebuttals on the Twilight Sucks forums)

    1. Edward is controlling and domineering
    2. Edward has an unequal share of authority over the relationship
    3. Edward threatens suicide
    4. Edward manipulates Bella into marriage
    5. Edward actively attempts to prevent Bella from seeing her friend (removes engine, has her kidnapped)
    6. Edward encourages Bella’s isolation from others

Wikipedia on Abusive Relationships: “An abusive relationship is an interpersonal relationship characterized by the use or threat of physical or psychological abuse. Abusive relationships are often characterized by jealousy, emotional withholding, lack of intimacy, infidelity, sexual coercion, verbal abuse, broken promises, physical violence, control games and power plays.”

JEALOUSY – If anything, Edward’s defining characteristic is in fact his jealousy. It is his jealousy (more than anything else) that instigates his abusive acts. He admits after the engine episode that the main reason for not wanting Bella to see Jacob was in fact his prejudice and jealousy, and that’s hardly the only instance of his jealousy.

EMOTIONAL WITHHOLDING – The fact that Edward and Bella are supposed to share this incredible, transcendent relationship is undermined by the fact that rather than discuss his fears and uncertainties, Edward chooses to leave Bella at the beginning of New Moon. While it’s not a crime to end a relationship, the fact that Edward chose to do so in such a cruel and unusual manner instead of explaining his feelings and emotions on the subject is pretty abusive.

LACK OF INTIMACY – The intimacy issue is a trickier when it comes to Edward and Bella. First, in terms of physical intimacy: the fact that Edward controls every single chaste little kiss AND withholds sex is incredibly controlling. That he does so supposedly to protect her is negated by the fact that he’s more than willing to sex her up once they’re married, even though she’s still a puny, fragile human (and she does get hurt). Their lack of emotional intimacy (again, with the above point about emotional withholding) is just as damaging (as referenced by Bella’s zombiefied state in New Moon.

SEXUAL COERCION – Again, Edward controls every aspect of their sexual lives, against Bella’s will and in fact he demeans and treats her like a child when she attempts to sex him.
Broken promises – at the end of Twilight, Edward promises to stay with Bella no matter what. Yet at the beginning of New Moon, he massively overreacts to the supposed threat of danger and decides to break that promise, rendering Bella suicidal. Maybe this isn’t traditionally abusive, but it’s unnecessarily damaging.

CONTROL GAMES AND POWER PLAYS – All the above points serve the idea that Edward’s prevailing character (served by his jealousy) is controlling. And I don’t care how ‘powerful’ and ‘omniscient’ and ‘old and wise’ Edward is, when you’re in a romantic relationship with someone one partner cannot be completely dominating and the other submissive (unless it’s a BDSM relationship, but that’s another subject entirely). It simply isn’t healthy, particularly when it’s supposed to be this ‘great love of all the ages’ and representative of an equal partnership.

    /quote

Now, on the topic of stalking:
Edward stalks Bella. That fact cannot be denied.

    Instances when Edward Stalks Bella:
    1. He follows her to Port Angeles when Bella goes dress shopping.
    2. He spends entire nights watching her sleep.
    3. He watches Bella without her knowledge as she reads a book outside her house, until Bella eventually falls asleep.
    4. He resorts to oiling the window hinges of her bedroom window in order to sneak into her bedroom quietly
    5. He breaks into her house, and does so without the permission of Bella or her father.

… There are many more instances, but I can’t seem to think of any at the moment. :\

Also, Edward may LOOK seventeen, but his mental age far surpasses that of a seventeen-year old teenager. Regardless of being ‘frozen’ when he was turned into a vampire, his mind still continued to grow and develop. The fact that Edward has the mentality of a 100+ year old man makes his relationship to Bella paedophiliac. It’s the inside that counts – not the outside.

If Edward actually looked his real age, Bella wouldn’t even think twice about him – she is infatuated with him and nothing else. How many times do we hear references to Edward’s beauty throughout the series? His liquid topaz eyes? His cold, marble, velvety skin? His perfect, flawless features? The entire series is chock full of these flowery descriptions.
Bella doesn’t love him. She lusts for him.

In response to “Here’s when the phrase “the pot calling the kettle black” comes into use. If you are unable to differentiate between the usage of “it’s” and “its”, I see no reason why you are equipped to put down Stephenie’s repeated usage of vocabulary throughout the books, or anything else for that matter.”

Firstly, I apologise for not double-checking my grammar. I was being berated by my parents to go to bed. It was my mistake; typing ‘it’s’ instead of ‘its’ is a bad habit of mine.

Secondly, the fact that you found a typo in my sentence is NOT an excuse to ignore my statement. I may not be an expert on writing, but I at least can identify the many plotholes, the terrible writing and the lack of plot in the series.

In response to “First of all, “being hailed” is a very ambiguous term and this whole “good role model” thing undeniably does not apply to us here at Twilight Singapore. IMHO, I do not think Bella Swan has done anything courageous enough to be a female role model, but I would like you to further clarify what you mean by “feminism” to begin with. I agree with Stephenie Meyer on her definition: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/bd_faq.html (Ctrl+F “Is Bella an anti-feminist heroine?”)”

Well, I don’t know about this website, but even the teachers in my school are saying Bella’s a good role model for young girls. I find this very wrong. Bella chooses life as an immortal vampire with her first love over her human friends, family and future. Not just that, but Twilight is telling teenage girls that there will always be someone around to save you from any harm, you don’t have to worry about anything because there’ll always be a perfect Prince Charming to come sweep you off your feet who will resolve all your problems.
In response to”1) Why is it that in relationships, things must be “fair”? As long as it suits the two people involved in the relationship, I see absolutely nothing wrong with having one helm it and the other simply following on.
    2) However, on the point that you made, you are wrong. Bella does not do that, as we could infer from i) her trying to escape from Edward’s “kidnap” attempt and ii) Edward’s repeated tries to let Bella choose whom she truly loves just so she could be happy.”
    1) Of course relationships must be fair! Are you implying that you are absolutely fine with your boyfriend/girlfriend telling you what you can and cannot do? That he/she has the right to push you around and can even physically and psychologically harm you? For example, your best friend tells you to take drugs. Are you going to do what your friend tells you, just because you feel she is the superior one in the relationship? Obviously, no one in their right mind will do it.
This also tells me (somewhat) of your views on feminism. It isn’t right for someone, male or female, to be superior to the other in a relationship. In my opinion, feminism is about freedom and independence for women. Feminism isn’t about women being superior to males – more like females are EQUAL to males, and the fact that you stated you think it is perfectly acceptable to have ‘one helm it and the other simply following on’, is evidence to your views (which are basically the same as SMeyer’s, as you pointed out) on feminism.

    2) i) Edward made the decision to ‘kidnap’ Bella without informing her of his plan; hence, she did not LET him do it. Also, just because Edward didn’t intend to be abusive towards Bella does not negate the fact that he did perform abusive actions.
ii) What I meant was that Bella doesn’t mind Edward choosing what she can/cannot do – heck, not just in their relationship, but in her life in general. He always has the upper hand. Stating that Edward tries repeatedly to convince Bella to leave him does not prove your point.
In response to: “Overused, much? Also, “Insult to Literature” needs further elaboration, as mentioned before.”
I would gladly like to elaborate further, but I’m afraid if I do, this reply would drag on forever.
    Perhaps in another post. 🙂

In response to: “I visit it very often, often being defined as “two or more times a week”.”
    Well, good for you! 😀
I’m glad there are Twilight fans that are up for a nice, long, intelligent debate out there.

In response to: “As you’d mentioned, you had a “feeling”; therefore I don’t think you are qualified to really outright accuse us. After all, technical difficulties crop up everywhere all the time and, as such, anything could have happened that involved neither you nor me and yet led to your comment doing a disappearing act. Of course it’s a hypocritical act but without solid evidence you should learn to refrain from attacking us like that.”

I didn’t mean to outright accuse you. I meant IF someone actually did that, then it would be hypocritical. I wasn’t saying that you DID delete my post, that’s why I had a ‘feeling’ someone did, because some Twilighters have been known to do be freakishly protective of Twilight, attacking those who do not agree with their views.
    Just being safe, is all.

In response to: “Also, once again I’d like to reiterate that we here at Twilight Singapore try our utmost to be polite.”

    *ahem*

    Aprill: “Wuhuu!!! take that PottyforPotter!!!”

    … ‘Nuff said. 😉

    February 22, 2009 at 8:59 pm

  71. Well, I’m sorry. But how was she contradicting herself? Is it just me , or are you even providing solid evidence that she did? She just said that her respect will rise for you people if you guys keep her post on the page. It was just a “suggestion”, you needn’t take it and say that she was contradicting herself in some way .
Okay, we’ll try to let you see it in OUR point of view.
Say a website asks “Are you an anti-twilight convert?” and makes it , I quote , ” a section of the site” and to “Bond the people together by sharing their convert stories”
, and delete every comment which goes against it, don’t you think that its pretty narrow-minded ? It also indirectly implies that you can’t take insults, no offence.
    Just my two cents.

Thank YOU for wasting YOUR money ( = time ) to read this “Retort/rebuttal/reply” Or whatever you may call this.

I fell in love with Edward Cullen in the book, Twilight, and after that, I fell in love with him in the film too! (I forced myself not to watch the film untill I read the book!)

I always talked to my friend about Twilight and Edward, but she got annoyed because I kept on about it and him. She has always hated books and reading. She text me on the weekend, saying that she went and bought Twilight!!

Maria Torres sent us her story:

“I was introduced to Twilight by a friend of mine. As I started reading more and more each day, I got deeper and deeper into the series. By the times I had finished reading Twilight, I knew it was my new obsession. So I told my best friend/cousin that it is a MUST for her to read Twilight. She was like “nah i have to much homework and i dont have time” and “noo that is too long”. But I never gave up and I kept insisting and insisting for her to read it. So i forced her into it and i let her borrow my book. The next day, she sends me a text saying “OMG i love Edward!” and from that point, i was like yes! i converted her. And til this day, we are both twilight/robert/edward maniacs! we absolutely love everything that has to do with Twilght. We even went crzy when we went to go see Robert at the Dallas Galleria…

(wanna know what we did to just see robert??) “

My 12 years old niece did it!

Hmmm… first, I got to know about the MOVIE from previews of it playing on cable tv and the most vivid scene I remembered was the part where EC was staring at Bella across the parking lot just before the van skidding scene. It stuck to my mind like a broken record, but I was disinterested and went like, “Oh, yeah… whatever”. Then one night, I saw the “Twilight” and “New Moon” books lying innocently on top of the table in the living room and I started to read them. It was my 12 years old niece’s:-) *wink* *wink* I get to read it for :-)freee:-) When I read “Twilight” for the very first time, I read it like a bullet train, I kept turning the pages without comprehending the plot or anything. Then I went and watched the movie and WHAM! I became a fan of the book and the movie thank u very much! P/s: To Moderator~ Sorry for posting my story here, I hope you don’t mind.

It’s just so obvious that the Harry Potter series is 100 times better. Even the movies are better!

Sorry but this is just my opinion!

    March 29, 2009 at 10:52 am

  89. izzatee

Yes, thank you for your opinion. You don’t have to broadcast it here because we, Twilight fans knew about this already. We don’t need any reminder that the HP series is 787975892375097023 times better than the Twilight Saga.

And I bet there are other Twilight fans out there who are also Harry Potter fans! I’m pretty sure that these bunch of people will be disappointed to hear the never-ending debate between HP & Twilight.

I respect the Harry Potter series and the fans too. I honestly enjoy watching the HP movies and JK Rowling is an amazing author. So is Stephenie Meyer!

I am posting this for our new Twilight fan Aiisah Yeow who wrote to us and told us her conversion story! Thank you Aiisha!!

    “Hello, there TwilightSingapore.com!

Well actually I’m not writing on how I convert someone into a ‘twilighter’, but how someone converted me into one.

It was my boyfriend’s sister who wanted to watch the movie so badly. So she brought us (me, boyfriend and herself) to go for the movie on Dec 20th. I swear I didn’t have a clue about the books before the movie, I admit. During the whole duration of the movie, the teenage girls behind us was outrageously irritating with that “Oh Edward!”, “Oh my god!!”, “Ahhhh!!!”, and all that melting noise. I really felt like throwing that popcorn in their faces for being so irritating, in the theaters!

After the movie, my boyfriend and his sister was the one who was crazy about the characters. I only manage to fall for the part where the vampires were in the garage, trying to save Bella’s butt. I somehow felt for the part because it showed how much Bella is important to Edward that his father, Carlisle, stood up for him against Rosalie saying, “We protect our family”. And of course the last scene where Edward kissed Bella on the neck instead of biting her into becoming his species. I had butterflies in my stomach when I saw that scene. So that was the only two scenes I brought back from the movies.

About weeks later, Twilight really started to grow on me. I began Goggling about them, YouTube-ing, anything and everything about Twilight. I watched the movie over and over again! I dare swear I’ve watched it more than a hundred time. Then came the book. Which obviously BF’s sister bought about a month after we watch the movie. She already had all four books ready by the time I knew she had them. About early March then I started beginning on the books, with courtesy of BF’s sister for lending them to me.

I was working then, so I had to manage my time reading. I finished Twilight in 2 days, 1 night for New Moon, 1 day for Eclipse, 1 night for Breaking Dawn. I was very very very proud of myself for reading those books, back to back, without any stop and the main reason why I think this book is really out of this world is because, I HAVE NEVER EVER READ ANY SEQUEL OR FINISHED A WHOLE STORYBOOK IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. FINISHED A BOOK WITHIN A NIGHT WAS VERY VERY SHOCKING FOR MYSELF! I mean, there is one, but it was a Secondary School Literature book from my younger sister, but that didn’t count, right? So that’s when I began to become a crazy, wild Twilight Fan. I even neglect my boyfriend who then complained and blamed his sister for making me into something I am not, a crazy reader!

Stephenie Meyer’s websites had all the fansites posted in her web, right? Believe it or not, I began searching one by one for photos and quotes and anything that I needed at that point of time. Crazy! I was absolutely crazy! Crazy about, first, obviously Robert Pattinson (RP) for being Edward Cullen and Kristen Steward (KS) for being Bella Swan in the movie and the characters (Edward & Bella) from the book itself. Second, how mind blowing this two couple is. I mean, I watched RP and KS interviews on YouTube over and over again. I have their graphic wallpapers on my cell phone, my desktop, my PSP. GOODNESS. They make a perfect match.

Up till now, everday single day, I log into the web and search on updates on New Moon because I SO CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE. Now I understood the girls whom I wanted to slam dunked back in the theaters months ago. HAHA!

I managed to find out about your website while I was goggling for Twilight merchandise in Singapore. It led to me a page full of crazy fans, like me, and I know I wasn’t the only crazy one. I even had my Livejournal entries put into a “Twilight Craze” archive.

    http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=aii_shah&keyword=Twilight+Craze&filter=all

Yep, you’ll know what I mean if you look at it. 😉

Now I am glad I’ve got a coven here, in SINGAPORE.

Hahaha! Thank you for taking your time, reading another crazy Twilighter’s mail.

PS: I am sad though, there’s no Midnight Sun. For now. And I thought they were talking that Stephenie had the 12 chapters on her site. But there’s only Chapter One: First Night. Any idea what happened to the rest 11 chapters?

PSS: I think the main culprit that converted me into being a Twilighter is, Stephenie Meyer herself. 😉

    XOXO,
    Aiishah Cullen”

I converted my best friend and now regret it because she goes on about it now even though originally i liked it first!! You know??

The thing is not with the actors for me. It is the whole feeling that you get over the tortured undying love in the story. I am a 27 year old Restaurant Manager and my high school kids talked me into actually reading the book. I found very dissappointed in the movie after reading the book cause the book is so much more and the movie definately leaves so much out. Any girl would be retarted to not fall in love with the characters of this fantasy. I like how stephanie meyers brings out the vampire story for a womans side. After reading the first book, it took me only minutes to realize I had to read the whole series. It took me only 1 week to read all for. I have 2 kids(4 and 1) and I almost felt like I neglected them for the time period. Thank god for my husband. The twilight saga has come oh too much of an obession for me. I yearn and long for the love that the characters Bella and Edward has. Although i don’t think it can ever be found outside of fantasy. I have read midnight sun also. Well what of it I could find on Stepahnie Meyrs website. I await for the rest of it to be published. I have converted alot of people to share my obsession my aunt (also my bestfriend, my cousin, my mom, and even my grandma lol. I have yet to convert my husband. All he can say is it is good. I guess because he is a guy he doesn’t feel the romantic pull. Guys are so designed differently. The one thing I am glad about is that even though I am somewhat jealous that everyone around me is falling in love with the characters I so fell fast for, I also like the fact that I can talk about it with almost anyone around me cause they in return get as excited about the up coming new moon movie as I do. Eclipse schedule for June 10 is awesome but I am getting no release for breaking dawn. Which if it comes as fast as eclipse maybe just hopefully it will be december 10. I can not wait. I do want to thank Stephanie Meyers for her dream and bringing this world to me. I will probably be feeling the mushy gooey feelings over her characters for a long time coming. Lol even though he seems he is much younger (5 years) Rob is definately a total hottie lol. That also helpps

Frankly speaking..I’ve read many books before, but the way stephanie meyer wrote, it really caught me..it made me stop everything I am doing..like watching my favourite tv shows and I can even skip dinner to finish the chapter I am reading..her writing style is very captivating, it really engaged all my attention. I really wanted to re-read everything again..but I am having my exams..so I need to study first..haha..oh..n i bought the dvd with exclusive features inside and watched it over and over again.. I think for 5 times the first week I bought it..haha..its the first time I am so engrossed in a movie..cos all along I am more into the chinese entertainment scene..so now everytime I will come online to see the latest news and updates on the NEW MOON movie, watch youtube for their past interviews..and all the RPAT fans encounters..haha..

OMG I WISH I COULD REPLY TO POTTYFORPOTTER AND CELINE BUT I HAVE EXAMS.

I do have time, though, for Potter Fan:
Tell you what. There’s something that exists within the human world called “opinion”. If you can’t accept ours, fine, then just exit this place immediately. So what if the Harry Potter series is a good series? We didn’t even *want* to compare these two to begin with.

The comparisons only began with the media just because Robert was a thing both sides shared in common. So what if it’s better? Aren’t people entitled to like cheesier, cuter, funnier, crazier books? Oh, so you don’t like it?

Sorry to say but it’s not a federal offence to like Twilight. *shrugs* I can’t help you anymore, sir. 🙂

  100. LOTR=EPIC

My sister tried to convert me but sad to say it ain’t working. The Twilight series is just another romance novel. There’s no thrill whatsoever. LOTR on the other hand, is the best fantasy book there is. 2nd is Harry Potter.

But I am happy for my sister however cause at least now she’s reading a lot more. So, thank you Stephanie Meyer.

HELLO EVERYONE, WOULD YOU MIND LOOKING AT THE SOURCE CODE FOR THIS PAGE? (You can Google steps on how to, depending on your browser.)

Search for the line that goes:
Are you a Twilight convert? « Twilight Singapore – a coven for all Singaporean Twilighters!

See that part? Are you a Twilight convert? It’s a rhetorical question. (You can Google this too.)

In this context, this rhetorical question means:
    – If you are a convert, please come here and share your story, because we’d love to hear it as we’re all one big family.
    – If you’re not, it’s all right!

I understand people’s needs to express their anti-Twilight views/views on “better” books such as HP and LOTR but, since you’re Internet savvy enough to find Twilight Singapore’s website, I believe that ranting to people who would actually appreciate their similar opinion is just four steps away:
    1. Go to http://google.com
    2. Type in “anti Twilight”
    3. Press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard
    4. Voila! Your results. You just need to click on your preferred links

YAYYYYYY! REMEMBER TO THANK ME WHEN YOU’RE FINALLY REALLY DISCUSSING AND HAVE STOPPED MOCKING PEOPLE. 😀

woah.. what can i say.. after 3 days of Twilight and New Moon & eclipse, and reading all 3 within 3 days, I have converted.. have to thank my sister for putting her collection of the books next to my treasured possession of Harry Potter hardcovers.. was bored and well, the books call out to me.. Initially i was like.. “urgh, im too old for another harlequin mills and boons NO substance purely romance between star crossed lovcrs books” but boy, was I soo wrong.. It surprises me how intense the books really are..Wouldnt like to compare rowling’s and meyer’s writing and plot but i have to say though Rowling’s plot was more developed and contained many surprising turns, I somehow felt MORE emotionally connected to the Twilight series.

I am itching to read the last book now, but I gotta give my eyes some rest I suppose.. haha..

    officially a FAN.. 🙂

HELLO POTTY FOR POTTER, I HAVE ONLY ONE LAST EXAM LEFT FOR MY MID-YEARS SO I’M HERE TO REPLY!

Usually, Twitards (the rabid fans) simply resort to bashing and flaming when anyone voices a negative opinion of the books.
Exactly, which is what this place is not made of. 🙂 I once swore here though, although it wasn’t in retaliation, and was subtly reprimanded by one of our fellow staff members. Hee. And no I don’t need proof, I know that crazed, psychotic girls have done worse things than to just spew profanities ie pour acid onto a hater, anyone?

Note: I’m not prejudiced against ALL Twilight fans. I only dislike the insane ones whom we Antis label ‘Twitards’. The ones capable of rational thought we’re okay with.
Just so you know, I do label them Twitards too.

I’d like to point you, Bessy, in the direction of the TwilightSucks forums: http://twilightsucks.proboards.com . I’m sure the members would welcome you with open arms. 🙂
Actually I think you belong there better, you know?

Yes, I HAVE read Midnight Sun.
    AWESOME! Then what’s the problem?

All I saw was that Edward only took an interest in Bella in the first place was because… she was interesting to him. She was the only human whose thoughts he could not hear, and that, coupled with the fact that she was his ’singer’, sparked his curiosity in her.
Well maybe you didn’t read properly. From Edward’s point of view, Bella was an interesting and brave girl, albeit too clumsy. Ergo she is definitely not “an annoying, whiny Mary Sue who’s a blank character just perfect for self-insertion, with no real personality.”

When you read Twilight, yes, maybe that’s the feeling you get, but because you’re putting yourself in her shoes to travel through the story. But I believe that even if Meyer wrote Twilight from, say, Charlie’s point of view, Charlie would probably portray Bella as a good cook, mature and studious.

    1. Edward is controlling and domineering
    2. Edward has an unequal share of authority over the relationship
    3. Edward threatens suicide
    4. Edward manipulates Bella into marriage
    5. Edward actively attempts to prevent Bella from seeing her friend (removes engine, has her kidnapped)
    6. Edward encourages Bella’s isolation from others

Where’s the point that backs your “paedophilic rapist” point?

Edward is controlling and domineering because of a very good reason: He’s 6.3529411764705882352941176470588 times older than Bella. He has seen 6.3529411764705882352941176470588 more dangerous things and not just because he has eaten an eternity life pill or what, but because he’s a vampire. He knows that things that normal humans don’t, he knows how much he can harm her, how fragile she is (to creatures like him), how this how that, etc.

Unequal share, same reason. I mean, if you know that there are hunters out there like James and (in his opinion, which isn’t entirely wrong) crazed werewolves, why would you dare to let Bella take charge of the relationship and let her do whatever she wants?

But in a way, he did compensate for that. Bella mentioned in Eclipse that Edward was too nice to her every time that she felt suspicious he was insisting on her using the air tickets (which were her birthday presents) to fly to Florida to visit her mum, despite her having politely rejected it before that.

He also gave in to her in the sense that, he could have easily denied her her request to make love to him and not have any marriage trade-in whatsoever, but he made her fulfill just one of his wish, and then they made love at Isle Esme in Breaking Dawn. Sigh.

    3. Edward threatens suicide
    Are you sure?

Point 4 and 5 have both been explained above.

Point 6… ARE YOU SERIOUSLY SURE THAT EVER HAPPENED? ROFL!

It is his jealousy (more than anything else) that instigates his abusive acts. He admits after the engine episode that the main reason for not wanting Bella to see Jacob was in fact his prejudice and jealousy, and that’s hardly the only instance of his jealousy.
Just so you know, that was a lousy example. Because he didn’t say anything of that sort. The only time he ever said he was jealous was in Twilight, when he told Bella how he was falling in love with her and how he felt jealous of Mike, and found out that that was love, period. He never, ever once mentioned jealousy of Jacob.

Better yet, the fact that Edward constantly kept trying to make Bella choose Jacob as her spouse in her human life absolutely contradicts your claim that the main reason he didn’t want her to see was “jealousy”.

Prejudice, yes, definitely, but because he was a vampire and he has his doubts on a young werewolf. He explained in Eclipse that young werewolves were dangerous. The only reason why Jacob didn’t apply for this fact, was because he loved Bella too much as well as he had better control over his emotions than Sam did that time with Emily.

rather than discuss his fears and uncertainties, Edward chooses to leave Bella at the beginning of New Moon.
By the way, Bella did too. It was definitely not emotional withholding though, as they had explained to each other in the later part of the book. It was due to the misconception of each other that they loved the other party more.

That occurred for two simple reasons: 1) Bella felt she was human and too average to be with Edward and accepted it when Edward said he never loved her, because she felt he has the right to do so. Bella was self-deprecating. 2) Edward, on the other hand, felt he was a monster who was ruining Bella’s normal life, and that he is too lucky to be allowed to be with her, a normal person much better than he ever is. Edward was also self-deprecating.

When you put two people together who look down on themselves and feel like everything they have is a gift, naturally something would happen. And in fact, I’m glad Edward left Bella, or else they may never have cleared up this miscommunication between them.

While it’s not a crime to end a relationship, the fact that Edward chose to do so in such a cruel and unusual manner instead of explaining his feelings and emotions on the subject is pretty abusive.
So, because he hurts Bella in a way that he never knew he would (ie he didn’t know that his leaving her would cause her to spiral into depression) means he was abusing her? Therefore, Edward, who left Bella in a hurtful manner, can be put on an equal with an abusive husband, who slaps and kicks his wife every day and night? (I’m not comparing their status in the relationship ie married or just a boyfriend, but their actions.)

the fact that Edward controls every single chaste little kiss AND withholds sex is incredibly controlling.
Well, it’s wrong of Edward to want to prevent himself from sucking her blood?

That he does so supposedly to protect her is negated by the fact that he’s more than willing to sex her up once they’re married even though she’s still a puny, fragile human (and she does get hurt).
Haven’t we been taught to keep our promises? Edward promised that Bella could have sex as long as she married him. It was one tiny promise. And did you know, by the way, that Edward did not want to even have sex, that’s why he purposely put up the one condition that Bella loathes the most – marriage? Did you? Well now you do. 🙂

Oh, and by the way, guess what? Edward hated himself after the sex for hurting Bella! And Bella was the happy one, despite being hurt.

Their lack of emotional intimacy (again, with the above point about emotional withholding) is just as damaging (as referenced by Bella’s zombiefied state in New Moon.
This is not emotional intimacy, actually. This is physical intimacy. And why would the lack of physical intimacy lead to Bella being depressed? A girl and a boy could be together and break up without kissing and why would it lead to any party displaying zombie-like behaviour?

Again, Edward controls every aspect of their sexual lives, against Bella’s will and in fact he demeans and treats her like a child when she attempts to sex him.
Well, gee, maybe it’s cause he doesn’t want her vagina to rip apart?

Yet at the beginning of New Moon, he massively overreacts to the supposed threat of danger
Are you sure it was massive? Don’t forget – he feeds on blood. As does his family. On page 44 of New Moon, the conversation went as follows.
E: Bella, you gave yourself a paper cut–that hardly deserves the death penalty.
    B: It’s still my fault.
E: Your fault? If you’d cut yourself at Mike Newton’s house, with jessica there and Angela and your other normal friends, the worst that could possibly have happened would be what? Maybe they couldn’t find you a bandage? If you’d tripped and knocked over a pile of glass plates on your own–without someone throwing you into them–even then, what’s the worst? You’d get blood on the seasts when they drove you to the emergency room? MIke Newton could have held your hand while they stitched your up–and he wouldn’t be fighting the urge to kill you the whole time he was there.

So, Edward’s love for Bella which led to self-hatred on his reliability on blood is a massive overreaction. So, Edward wanting to leave Bella so that he could hurt her no more… is an overreaction.

and decides to break that promise, rendering Bella suicidal. Maybe this isn’t traditionally abusive, but it’s unnecessarily damaging.
Yes, he broke his promise – but he would never have known that it would cause such harm to Bella. He never knew how much Bella truly loved him, as mentioned before.

All the above points serve the idea that Edward’s prevailing character (served by his jealousy) is controlling.
Yes, controlling, but definitely not powered by jealousy, but by reasons such as the very reason why he exists is the same reason why he’d be dangerous to be with Bella.

And I don’t care how ‘powerful’ and ‘omniscient’ and ‘old and wise’ Edward is
Precisely why you don’t care that’s why you don’t get the point. But anyway those were not character traits that I had mentioned of Edward. He is definitely not powerful and omniscient (who exactly said that?). Yes he is old, but age does not even equal maturity, lest wiseness.

when you’re in a romantic relationship with someone one partner cannot be completely dominating and the other submissive
Why not? If both parties are willing, I see no reason to go against such a relationship. Bella knows he’s doing this for her own good but she keeps trying to test the limits. It’s not that she doesn’t want to accept it, she’s just challenging Edward to break his boundaries. But Edward is self-disciplined and knows when to stop.

Therefore, in a way, Bella needs Edward to be there to tell her to stop, and Edward needs Bella to listen before he kills her.

It simply isn’t healthy, particularly when it’s supposed to be this ‘great love of all the ages’ and representative of an equal partnership.
It is not, a “great love of all the ages”. Sigh. And when has it become a “representative of an equal partnership”? Whoever said that obviously didn’t think before saying. It is very obviously not of equality, but such a relationship cannot be deemed unhealthy simply because an ideal relationship is viewed as one where both parties manage equally and have a 50-50 share in it.

This is a relationship which involves a blood-sucking vampire and a blood-ful human. Anytime, Bella could easily end up dead. Here’s where your ideal relationship of the 21st century stops and a whole new boundary is drawn. This is different.

Edward stalks Bella. That fact cannot be denied.
Yes it can. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalking Or, since that article’s “neutrality” has been “disputed”, http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stalk

    Sigh.

The fact that Edward has the mentality of a 100+ year old man makes his relationship to Bella paedophiliac. It’s the inside that counts, not the outside.
Unfortunately, paedophilia “is defined as a psychological disorder in which an adult experiences a sexual preference for prepubescent children.”

If Edward actually looked his real age, Bella wouldn’t even think twice about him.
No, Bella wouldn’t even meet him, you see, since he is an old man living in Forks, she wouldn’t know about him.

Bella doesn’t love him. She lusts for him.
What’s the difference between love and lust? How can you be so sure that, just because Bella claims he is so beautiful and all that, all she wants is to sex him up and not that she truly, really loves him? Why can’t someone be beautiful before and after falling in love? She later realized she loves Jacob too, right? If:
F(E)=lust, F(J)=love, B would have felt the difference.
    F(E)=love, F(J)=love, B would not feel anything.
    Whereby F=Feelings of, E=Edward, J=Jacob and B=Bella.

Secondly, the fact that you found a typo in my sentence is NOT an excuse to ignore my statement. I may not be an expert on writing, but I at least can identify the many plotholes, the terrible writing and the lack of plot in the series.
Uh huh, but I can equally manage to analyze, explain and break down to you the reasons behind all these so-called “plot holes”, which you had failed to see.

Teachers are humans too, right? Humans err. No big deal. My friends can correct their Physics teacher on the Newton laws. But that’s science, and it follows an absolute route. Whereas with regards to this feminism thing, it’s all about the morals. Each human brain to his own. Your teachers may or may not be wrong, depending on his/her explanations.

The reasons why your teacher mentioned she’s a good role model are as follows:
    – Bella completes her homework on time
    – Bella takes care of her father by doing housework such as cooking, washing the laundry etc.
    – Bella abstains from sex before marriage

The first two are unarguably right, but the last can be disputed. I shall not delve into that.

Bella chooses life as an immortal vampire with her first love over her human friends, family and future.
Yes, this is wrong, but how would this actually apply to real life? For example, Juno the movie came out and talked about teenage pregnancy. People argued that it was bad because following that came ‘The Juno Effect’, where 17 teenage girls got pregnant. (I forgot the exact details.)

That is when the term ‘wrong example to follow’ comes into place. But are there any genuine vampires existing in this world for you to fall in love with? Also, to be honest, her only true human friend is Angela, but even so, Angela was going to lose contact with her. Besides that, Charlie knew about Bella’s immortality at the end anyway.

By the way, by “friends, family and future”, do you mean to say that Bella chose to be immortal as compared to wanting to die? Why would that be in any way wrong? Why, would dying along with your “friends” and “family” be more normal as compared to being immortalized?

If that was the case, well then Bella would have died sooner than Charlie, when she gave birth to Renesmee. And then, would it be Bella’s fault once again for not choosing to be immortalized when she had the chance to? And now, she was leaving Charlie, Renee and Phil all alone in the world?

Twilight is telling teenage girls that there will always be someone around to save you from any harm, you don’t have to worry about anything because there’ll always be a perfect Prince Charming to come sweep you off your feet who will resolve all your problems.
Didn’t Disney’s stories do that too? In this world, there will always be girls who never grow up and pine for their knight is shining armour.

But anyway, you can read this book and choose not to be infatuated with it. It’s your choice. Like you have chosen to disregard the book after reading it because of its storyline. Similarly, I have chosen to be a fan of this series as I feel like it’s a good plot beyond normal teenage stories.

    1) Of course relationships must be fair! Are you implying that you are absolutely fine with your boyfriend/girlfriend telling you what you can and cannot do?
Depending on humans, there are submissive and decisive types. If you pair me (a decisive person) with a submissive person in a relationship, why would it actually give rise to any problems?

That he/she has the right to push you around and can even physically and psychologically harm you?
Bella could have had the right to psychologically harm Edward too by breaking it off with him, but she would never make that kind of decision. Only Edward would. However, I don’t understand your argument on the “physical” part.

For example, your best friend tells you to take drugs. Are you going to do what your friend tells you, just because you feel she is the superior one in the relationship?
This analogy does not apply, for a friendly relationship is nowhere near the same level as a BGR.

This also tells me (somewhat) of your views on feminism.
Well then you’re wrong because I have no views on feminism at all. I have only the opinion that everyone should be given equal opportunities in everything, although it’s hardly possible to achieve that. And even then, my view does not apply to relationships. How people handle their relationships is up to them.

Wrong, wrong. I just feel like, once again, “How people handle their relationships is up to them.” It all depends on the parties involved. You can’t insist on the male in the relationship to stand up to his girlfriend who helps him to make decisions when he has already decided to leave everything to her. I mean, if he likes it, what’s wrong? Why do you want to make things “right” and then make him “dislike” his position in the relationship? Why should you care how people have their relationship, as long as they’re happy?

Unless, they are not happy with it. For example, initially, due to infatuation, the boyfriend think the girl should do everything for him, but later the guy decides to try and be independent but the girl refuses – that, would then be classified as wrong.

Stating that Edward tries repeatedly to convince Bella to leave him does not prove your point.
Yes it does. Because it shows that Edward did not have the upper hand in shoving Bella to choose Jacob because in the end, she did not choose Jacob and returned to Edward. I shall not elaborate on the Bella-not-minding thing anymore. I state one last time: As long as both parties enjoy it very much and have no disdain towards such a lifestyle, then all’s well that ends well.

    Perhaps in another post. 🙂
    How about now, then?

I’m glad there are Twilight fans that are up for a nice, long, intelligent debate out there.
    Thank you.

Yes you did my dear. You went, “I think it’s rather unfair for you to delete my post just because it’s something that opposes your views of something. I also think it’s rude and hypocritical of you to ask whether people are Twilight ‘converts’, and when someone replies ‘No’, you delete their reply.” Which is an opinion based on the conclusion that we did indeed delete your post. You can fit those two sentences perfectly into another paragraph that says, “You should not have deleted my post. [insert sentences here] Please learn to be more courteous.” See?

Better yet, you went, “My respect for you Twilighters would go up a whole lot more if you have the sense to keep my post on this page.” Therefore you are saying that we didn’t keep your post and therefore you have much lesser respect for us.

that’s why I had a ‘feeling’ someone did
You only had a ‘feeling’ in your first sentence and no more. The rest were merely covered reasons to attack us.

    Just being safe, is all.
Ironic, because if you hadn’t added in that paragraph, it would never have sounded like you were accusing us.

    *ahem*
Not me. I am straightforward like that. The rest of us are much better behaved than I am.

I converted every person that stepped foot in my home over the course of me reading the books. I have to honestly admit that at first I did not understand the HYPE. My husband who love vampire movies brought it. Of course I watched the move… and loved it. Since I am the reader of the family I choose to get the books, they always have more detail. As I read the book and did all of the accolades that were necessary, my husband demanded that I read it too him, so I did. when my mother came to visit I read it to her out loud also. We have since finished all the books and are currently awaiting NEW MOON’s debut.

Yup we all want the same thing cos after the premiere all of us came away with the feeling of how fast it went!! 500 pages should be able to fill 6 hours hehe. But kudos to Catherine Hardwicke for making the movie so good and somehow made us watch it over and over again!! It all stems of course from Stephenie Meyer who wrote a great great great story! 🙂

LOL , i seriously convert my friend , or rather friends into twilight fans haha.
I started to read twilight saga books when i am shopping for stationeries in popular bookstore. And the cover of twilight caught my attention. Being Curious about the story , i bought the book. When i went home , i realized that i fell in love with the book twilight LOL. i fell in love with it and i read the twilight book into the night about 2am until my mom start to force me back to sleep .(HAHA)and then of course , i started collecting all the wallpapers of twilight. When i introduce the book to my friend , she is like “Lawls?i dun like to read this kind of books”. But under my persuasion , she ONLY read the overview of the book. However , the next day , i realised that she is borrowing twilight saga books from my friend and is reading even when she is eating and having her recess. From tht day onward , i realised how “powerful”Twilight could be lol. And i seriously could not wait for the release of New Moon~~~

    Hi ALL!!

Thank you for sharing your Twilight ‘conversion’ stories.

Here’s one from Chloe who wrote to us:

“Hi my name is Chloe. I converted my sister, Claudia into a Twi-Hard. She’s not really new into the whole Twilight Saga thing, she has been a fan for at least a year already. Ok, so this is how it happened. (It was when i was 11 years old, now i’m 13) My family and I went to Kinkuniya (don’t know how to spell it) and I really wanted a new book so I asked my dad to buy me one, then there was this book shelf meant only for the Twilight Saga books and I didn’t know what the books were about, to me they looked interesting to me, so I choose Twilight out of New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, but I actually didn’t know that it was a series kind of thing. When I first read it I became really addicted to the book, I could not even put it down and in two days I finished reading it. In the process of reading I was like literally like “in my own fantasy world” where I was living in Forks with the Cullens and I felt like I was a Vampire too, so everything around me became invisible and my sister was so pissed of with me cause I didn’t even want to put down the book to eat or do anything, it was like I didn’t have a social live and I will be just lying on my bed reading it. My sister kept cursing the book and said that it was nonsense and stuff, I told her that she would love the book when she read it but she didn’t believe me at all, that year was 2007 and I heard from some of my friends that the movie was coming out so when it was released in 2008, I went out with my best friends and sister to watch it, my sister didn’t really know that we were going to watch Twilight until we went to the cinema and she kept grumbling about watching Twilight, she thought that Vampires were stupid (now she is on Team Edward, in at a neutral side but more on Team Edward, but mostly like what they say im on Team Switzerland) and stuff. After watching it, out of all my friends and I she was the most awestruck one, she wanted to watch it again, she liked the movie as she claims that there are so many nice cars. So when we went home she asked me if she could read Twilight and in at least a week she read finished the whole book, she is not the type of person who would read book, and its such a thick book and she thought that she would take forever to read finish it. When she read finish Twilight she was pleased with herself and she wanted to read the other series. So after that my parents got us Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, I already had new moon. My sister and my mum hunted down Eclipse for so long as it was always out of stock, but after quite a while then the stock came in. This year my sister and I have been collecting other Twilight stuff, we have other Twilight books, like the Director’s Notebook and posters. Now she is really a twi-hard, she is so obsessed with the Twilight Saga as much as I am. So whenever she mentions something about the Twilight saga, I would tease her about last time, when she would scold me about reading Twilight and now she is so obsessed with it.”

    Hi Nasyita,

Thank you again for the brief sms regards to the movie marathon. I truly appreciate the effort put up by you and your team. My Husband, Isaac does not like the idea of watching twilight coz he strongly believes that he will be surrounded by girls and women who are going gogo – gaga over twilight on that day, but he volunteered to accompany me anyway. So as minutes passes by as we stood at the entrance, I waited anxiously for the door to open but he just sat there with no reaction.

  137. I liked Twilight, but New Moon lost me.

The expectations left by the first movie were not realized in New Moon. While we wanted to like it, there was not enough of anything there. 60 minutes of entertainment crammed into 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Here is out take with lots of pics and a little wit if you are interested:

    Hi!
I am a 40 year old mother of two one of which happens to be a 16 year old girl who had seen the movie Twilight with some friends when she came home that’s all she could talk about and she told me i really needed to watch the movie so one Saturday there was nothing on t.v. and she had used her allowance to buy the DVD she brought it into the living room and asked me to watch it with her i reluctantly said yes i was so amazed by the movie that i watched it several times after that. The day that New Moon came out on DVD i was at the store i brought it home and watched Twilight first then New Moon and i was hooked as soon as the movie was over i knew i had to buy the book Eclipse i read the book in two days time i would get so into it i would look up and it would be 4 am and of course the same day i finished Eclipse i went out and bought Breaking Dawn. I have fallen in love with this love story i know that sounds crazy but it is like i can’t get enough of the Twilight series i don’t want it to end. My daughter converted me into a Twilight Junkie….LOL

I converted myself haha. Really though, as a straight male in his mid-twenties, and having known that the main fan-base was young girls, I was less than excited to watch the first movie with my girlfriend, but I’m an awesome boyfriend, so I sat and watched her with it. When it was over, I said, “ok, it’s not SO bad I guess”. After she watched the Twilight, I bought all of the books for her so she could read them before seeing the rest of the films. One day, I picked up Twilight and started sort of skimming through it a bit, and two or three weeks later, I closed Breaking Dawn and had successfully read all of them.
